Draesel Construction is very excited to be able to work with the homeowner of a “Net Zero” house in the community of Rocky Ridge in the northwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. The foundation consists of a Ploycore styrofoam with steel studs imbedded in it for lateral support.
Here is a photo of the system when we began the project.
We are extremely pleased with how well it is going together and how sturdy the foundation walls are. There is a bottom heavy gauge L-bracket which is bolted to the footings and screwed to the Polycore panels. On top of the foundation, is a heavy gauge “Z” channel that holds the top together and a 2×6 plate gets screwed from the top and sides to support floor trusses. This is as far as we have gone and I will try an keep you posted on the progress on this fun project.
